| ÖZET Tezimin konusunu şöyle özetleyebilirim : 20. yüzyıl öncesinde Amerikan sanatının tarihçesi tanıtılarak teze başlandı. 19. yüzyıl ortalarından başlayarak Amerika’ mn sosyal, ekonomik yapısı incelendi. Bu yapımn sanata etkisi belirlendi. 20. yüzyıl başlarında realist sanat geleneği sürerken Amerikan sanatının modern sanata geçişleri ve bu konulardaki önemli resimleri tanıtıldı. Bu dönemdeki ilk önemli modern sanat olayı olan Armory Show detaylı bir şekilde incelendi. Bundan sonra I. ve II. Dünya Savaşı sıralarında Avrupa’dan Amerika’ya gelen sanatçılar ve getirdikleri akımlar ele alındı. Bu döneme hakim olan New York Dada olayı anlatıldı. Bundan sonra genç Amerikalı sanatçıların ortaya çıkması ve Amerikan sanatımn kendi kişiliğini bulması belirlendi. İlk gerçek Amerikan akımı olan 40’lı ve 50’li yıllara ait soyut dışavurumculuk incelendi. Daha sonra da bu humanist akıma bir karşıt oluşturacak 60’lı yıllara ait olan ve objeyi ağırlıkta tutan formalist akım, minimalizm ve pop art tanıtıldı. Bu süreçte New York’un Paris ve Londra dışında önemli bir sanat merkezi olarak ortaya çıkması anlatıldı. | |||
| SUMMARY The subject of my thesis can be summarized as follows : The thesis starts with an introduction of American History of Art before 20th century. Starting with the 19th century, the social and economic structure of the United States of America has been studied. The influence of this structure to art is defined. As the realist art tradition continued its influence in the beginning of the 20th century, the passage of American art to modern art and the paintings that are good representations of this tradition have been presented. Armory Show, the most important modern art event during this period, has been studied in detail. After that, the artists who came from Europe to America during World Wars I and II and the art trends they brought with them have been studied. The New York Dada event which dominated this period is narrated. After that appearance of the young American artists and American Art finding its own personality is indicated. Abstract expressionism, which is the first real American trend of the years 1940’s and 1950’s has been studied. After that, the counters of this humanist trend in the years 1960’s, such as the formalist trend which takes the object as center of interest, as well as minimalism and pop art are introduced. During this period, appearance of New York as an art center outside Paris and London is explained. | |||
