| Düş gücü, insanın insana, topluma, yaşama yeni olanaklar açabilmesini sağlayan en önemli yetidir. Yaşama dair yapılan düşsel tasarılar gelecekte gerçekleşme potansiyelini de içinde barındırır. Öte yandan belli bir tarihsel mekânsal konjonkturde ortaya atılan düşsel tasarıların sadece kurgusal değil aynı zamanda zamansal bir niteliği de vardır. Bu nedenle de popüler kültürün içindeki en uç fanteziler bile kurgu olarak ortaya atıldıkları toplumsal koşullar ile daimi bir ilişki içindedir. Bu çalışma da bir düşsel tasarı olan eleştirel distopya alt türüne odaklanmaktadır. Çalışma temelde iki amaç ekseninde hareket etmektedir. İlk olarak, Holywood distopya sineması içerisinde bireysel değil kolektif mücadeleyi öne çıkaran, güncel politik ve toplumsal gelişmelere eleştirel yaklaşan ve devrim ütopyası ile biten bu filmler geçmişin klasik distopya türünden farklılaşan nitelikler taşımaktadır. Buna bağlı olarak çalışmanın amaçlarından birisi Hollywood’da çekilen distopyaların 21. yüzyılda türsel bir değişime/yenilenmeye doğru evrildiği varsayımına dayanmaktadır. Dolayısıyla çalışmada Hollywood distopyalarındaki bu türsel değişim ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmıştır. İkinci olarak ise çalışma, türsel değişimin/yenilenmenin her zaman toplumsal bir karşılığı olduğu düşüncesinden hareketle Hollywood sinemasındaki bu değişimin sosyoekonomik nedenlerini/ilişkisini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu nedenle araştırma üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. İlk olarak, türün köklerine ve yönelimlerine dair edebiyatta ve sinemada yapılan tartışmalara yer verilmiştir. İkinci olarak ise edebiyatta “eleştirel distopya” olarak kavramsallaştırılan ve karakteristikleri çıkarılan bu alt tür, 21. yüzyıla kadarki Hollywood distopya filmleri bağlamında ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın analiz bölümünde ise seçilen filmlerin eleştirel distopya alt türünün niteliklerini taşıyıp taşımadığı üzerine odaklanılmıştır. Çalışma boyunca bu türsel haritalandırmayı yaparken ise yeni türlerin ortaya çıkışının ve türsel değişimin tarihsel-toplumsal koşullar ile olan ilişkisi de açığa çıkartılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bakımdan 2002-2015 yılları arasında bu alt türün çıkmaya ve yaygınlaşmaya başladığı savına dayanan bu çalışmada, bu zaman aralığı içerisinde hem türsel özellikleri en iyi taşıyan hem de türün yayılım zamanına dair en iyi fikir veren örnekler arasında olduğu için İsyan (2002), Vendetta’nın V’si (2005), Yeni Cennet (2013) filmleri ve Açlık Oyunları film serisi (2012-2015) analiz kapsamında seçilmiştir. | |||
| Imagination is the most important competence that enables people open new possibilities to people, society and life. The imaginary plans that are made include realization potential in the future. On the other hand, the imaginary plans came up with in certain historical spatial conjuncture have not only a fictional, but also a temporal character. For this reason, even the most extreme fantasies in popular culture are in a permanent relationship with the social conditions where they are put forward as fiction. This study focuses a sub-genre on critical dystopia that is a dream plan. The study basically moves on the axis of two purposes. Firstly, the films, that highlight collective struggle instead of individuality, have a critical approach to contemporary political and social developments and end up with revolution utopia, differ from the classic dystopia of the past. Accordingly, one of the purposes of the study is based on the assumption that dystopias being shot in Hollywood have evolved into change or renewal related to genre. Hence, the type of variation in Hollywood dystopias has been tried to propound in the study. Secondly, the study aims to reveal the socio-economic causes and relationships of this change in Hollywood cinema with the idea which the change and renewal related to genre always has a social return. Therefore, the study consists of three parts. Firstly, the literature and the cinema on the roots and orientations of the genre were discussed. Secondly, this concept which is conceptualized as critical dystopia in the literature and its characteristic features that were revealed, are taken into consideration in the context of Hollywood dystopian movies up to 21th century. In the analysis of the study, it was focused whether the selected movies have characteristic features of critical dystopian sub-genre. While making the genre mapping throughout the study, the emergence of new types and the relationship between the types and the historical-social conditions have been tried to be revealed. In this study, which is based on the argument that the sub-genre species started to spread between the years of 2002 and 2015, Equilibrium (2002), V for Vendetta (2005), Elysium (2013) and The Hunger Games film series (2012-2015), which are the best examples showing both the genre characteristics and giving an idea about the spreading time of the genres, were selected within the scope of the analysis | |||
