| Osmanlı Devleti, 19. Yüzyıl’da devletin geleceği açısından önemli bir sürece girmiştir. Avrupa karşısında kaybettiği savaşlar ve içeride yaşanan bunalım devletin kendine çeki düzen vermesini gerektirmiştir. Bu doğrultuda III. Selim ve II. Mahmut dönemlerinde başlayan reform çabaları Osmanlı Devleti için önemli bir sürecin dönüm noktaları olmuştur.Tanzimat Dönemi dediğimiz bu sürecin yaşanmasında ve gelişmesinde Osmanlı aydınının büyük ölçüde etkisi olmuştur. Bu aydınların başında Ahmed Vefik Paşa gelir. Ahmed Vefik Paşa, bu sürece, ürettiği ideoloji, önerdiği siyaset, ilim ve kültür faaliyetleri ile katkıda bulunmuştur.Osmanlı Devleti’nde elçilik, valilik, meclis başkanlığı, Anadolu Müfettişliği, maarif nazırlığı gibi önemli görevlere getirilmiş olan Ahmed Vefik, bu görevlerin çoğundan, hakkında çıkan şikâyetlerden ötürü azledilmiştir. Memuriyeti süresince başına buyruk tavırlarıyla tepki çekmiş olsa da devletin çıkarlarını daima ön planda tutmuştur.Batı ve Doğu dünyasını elçilik görevleri ile yakından, okuduğu kitaplar ile uzaktan tanıyan Ahmed Vefik Paşa yaşamında bunun sentezini oluşturmuştur. | 19th century was an important era for the future of Ottoman Empire. By means of the Intellectuals of the Empire, a period called Administrative Reforms took place and progressed . Because of the wars it was defeated , the Empire needed to recover. In accordance with this , the reforms which carried out during the period of III. Selim and II. Mahmut were the critical points of an important period for the Otoman Empire.By means of the Intellectuals of the Empire, a period called Administrative Reforms took place and progressed . Among these intellectuals, Ahmed Vefik Paşa was one of the most imortant initiators. He influenced this period with his ideology, political ideas and scientific and cultural activities.When he was assigned as an ambassador, a governor, the president of the assembly, the inspector of Anatolia, the minister of Education , he was discharged of most of these duties because of the complaints about him. Although he was criticized because of his free manners, he always prioritised the benefits of the Empire.Ahmed Vefik Paşa synthetized what he learned from his embassy in East / West sides of the world and the books he read.
