| Nafi Atuf Kansu, II. Meşrutiyet, Cumhuriyet, Çok Partili Hayata geçiş yıllarını gören oldukça çalkantılı bir dönemde yetişen önemli eğitimci, yazar ve siyaset adamlarımızdan birisidir. Mülkiye Mektebi çıkışlı olması, kapasitesi ve donanımı, onun Cumhuriyet dönemi eğitim sisteminin dizayn edilmesinde önemli görevler almasını sağlamıştır. Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu’nun çekirdeği sayılan Heyet-i İlmiye Kurulunda bulunan, öğretmen örgütlenmelerinde rol alan bir isimdir. Ülkemizde ilk izcilik faaliyetleriyle ilgilenmiş, Türk Maarif Cemiyetinin kurucuları arasında yer almıştır. Halkevlerinin merkezi sayılan Ankara Halkevi Başkanlığı ve Cumhuriyetin 10. Yıldönümü Kutlamalarını yöneten komisyonda görev yapmıştır. Pedagoji Tarihi adlı eseriyle dünyaca ünlü eğitimbilimcileri ülkemize tanıtmıştır. Eser, 1952 yılına kadar dönemin öğretmen okullarında ders kitabı olarak okutulmuştur. Ayrıca Türk Maarif Tarihi Hakkında Bir Deneme adlı iki ciltten oluşan kitabı da bulunmaktadır. Cumhuriyet dönemi eğitim tarihi alanında yazılan ilk kitaplardan olması eserin önemini daha da artırmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Nafi Atuf’un hayatı, Cumhuriyet dönemi içinde yer aldığı eğitim faaliyetleri, eğitimle ilgili üstlendiği görevler, siyasete atıldıktan sonra dönemin eğitim politikalarına olan etkileri araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca hayatı boyunca yazdığı kitapları ve çeşitli dergilerde yayınlanan yazıları ekler kısmında verilmiştir. Cumhuriyet dönemi eğitim tarihiyle ilgili yapılan çalışmalara bakıldığında Nafi Atuf’un katkıları görülmektedir. | Nafi Atuf Kansu, who was one of the most important educators, writers and politicians of republican era was raised in unsteady times and having experience years of second constitutional, republican and multi-party era of Turkey. His educational background from Mülkiye Mektebi, his capacity and his equipment enabled him to enjoy significant missions in the designation of the education system of the Republican Era. He took roles in Heyet-i İlmiye which was considered as the core of Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu and teacher organization. He was the first one in Turkey who was interested in Scoutcraft and he was among the founders of Türk Maarif Cemiyeti. He worked in the committee of presidency of Ankara Halkevi which was considered as the center of Halkevleri and in the committee which administered the celebration of 10th anniversary of Turkish Republic. He introduced worldwide known pedagogues to Turkey by writing the history of pedagogy. The book was used as a textbook in schools until 1952. Besides, there is another book of Nafi Atuf as two volumes and its name is An Essay about Turkish Education History. Due to the fact that it is the first book written about education history of the Republican era, this situation increases the significance of the book. Therefore, in this study, the life, the education activities and missions of Nafi Atuf related to education system of republican era and his influences on education policies have been researched. Besides, his other books and other writings published in journals are shown in the appendix. The contributions of Nafi Atuf can be seen when the studies on education history of Turkish Republic are examined.
