Summary. The subject of this paper is the problem of the covariations of the index and its components, x and y, in a normal bivariate population. 1° The exact regression lines of x and y on the index are studied. 2° Then, the usual linear approximations of these regressions are geometrically analysed (with the two correspondant correlations).
