…I write these lines not only to express my appreciation of Nejat Göyünç’s distinguished scholarly achievements, but also the profound grief I feel for the loss of a dear, close friend. Nejat was one of those people who are attached to their friends with an absolute sincerity, unselfishness and varmıth. Without my asking he spoke in my favour on many occasions and wished my happiness. I deeply regret losing a true friend.
